Pickering installed its first publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging stations including a Fast Charger in spring 2023. This pilot advances the City of Pickering’s efforts to support EV ownership and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The project has been made possible, in part, by the Government of Canada, through its Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program.

Description

Public charging station locations

  • Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex (1867 Valley Farm Road)
    • Level 3 (two stations)
    • Level 2 (four stations)
  • Pickering Operations Centre (1955 Clements Road)
    • Level 2 (six stations)

By providing the fastest type of charging technology on the market, the City is ensuring that, in many cases, a user can charge their EV's battery to 80% in 30 minutes, with the Level 3 charger, as opposed to receiving a full charge in four hours or more with the Level 2.
