In order to support electrification of private vehicles, the Town of Whitby partnered with Durham Region and Local Area Municipalities joint funding application to Rounds 1 to 4 of the Zero Emissions Vehicle Infrastructure (ZEVI) Program administered by Natural Resources Canada to establish a charging station network across the community.

Successful in all rounds of funding the Town installed and operates a network of charging stations across several municipally owned facilities. Including 29 Level 2 charging stations and two Level 3 (DC Fast Charging) stations.
