Description

Beaverton Heights is a forward-thinking, all-electric transitional housing community designed to support life stabilization for residents in north Durham. It features a Community Hub offering services and activities for both residents and the broader community.

Key Sustainability Features:

  • All-Electric Design: No fossil fuels used—first of its kind in Durham Region.
  • Energy Efficiency: Includes air-source heat pumps, electric water heaters, LED lighting, and enhanced insulation.
  • Water & Waste Reduction: Low-flow fixtures, native landscaping, and stormwater retention systems.
  • Renewable Energy: A ~140 kW rooftop solar PV system meets up to 50% of the building’s energy needs.
  • EV Infrastructure: Two Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations.
  • Climate Impact: Achieves 37.2% greater efficiency than Ontario Building Code SB-10; supports Durham’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2045.
